Hello! My name is Maxime Vermeulen and I am a UK-based character artist from France working in the video games industry. I have experience working on triple AAA live-service games as well as being part of smaller teams of indie game makers.
I am especially passionate about stylised worlds and want to bring to life bold and colourful characters that players will write fan-fictions about!

I was responsible for creating a new generation of 3D creatures for this pet-battle project, helping develop the new style and pipeline along the lead concept artist following the need of the creative director.
I was also responsible for mentoring and supervising a junior character artist on my team.
As a member of the Sea of Thieves team I was responsible for creating assets, characters and creatures for the game's monthly updates and more ambitious releases such as our collaboration with Disney and the Pirate of the Caribbean franchise on Sea of Thieves: A Pirate's Life.
- I closely collaborated with the concept team to help create the iconic characters from the movies into the style of Sea of Thieves, while pushing boundaries for how characters and creatures could look like in our evolving game.
- I worked within a stylized PBR workflow in which I introduced nuances of hand-painted texturing.
- I created monthly content and cosmetics for players such as modular clothing assets and animal companions, that involve modeling, texturing or optimizing assets up to standards for release.
- I stayed in contact with the different departments of the studio to prevent issues, fix bugs, prepare events, test ideas, inspect outsourced submissions and provide feedback.
Working on a video game adaptation of a popular french TV show. I was responsible for creating a character in association with Appeal Studios, tailored to their needs for the game.
Working on Ary and the Secret of Seasons I was responsible for creating models of characters and creatures at an early stage of the development of the game.
